What are panic attacks? These events occur when the body begins to produce more adrenaline than it needs in a frightful situation.
Defining Panic
While many people have heard of panic attacks, not as many people have realized they too have had panic attacks. These scary situations occur when your body goes into fight or flight mode, producing more adrenaline than your body can utilize. The excess adrenaline courses through your veins and it can cause a myriad of panic attack symptoms, including fears of losing control, stomach upset, etc.
Most panic attacks are singular, often happening once every few years, but for those who are under a lot of stress, these panic attacks can be a daily occurrence, requiring panic disorder medication to help them stop the cycle of panic. Since one panic attack can lead to another panic attack because you fear it might happen again, it can be a tough pattern to break.
Everyone Worries
For many people, a panic attack is a scary occurrence, but it's not a harmful condition. Though it might be a signal that you need to slow down your life in order to be calmer, most panic attacks are simply events which will pass and that will be a mild annoyance rather than a lifelong condition of anxiety. However, if a person continues to have the attacks, with the rapid heart rate, this can be damaging. Further treatment is necessary by a medical specialist.
Anxiety is a common occurrence, but in times of greater stress, realize you might be at risk of a panic attack, even if you don't know you're experiencing one.
