Panic and Anxiety Causes
Panic and anxiety causes will vary from patient to patient, but there are several frequently mentioned problems which may increase one's risk of panic disorders and attacks.
Stressful Life Events
The most common reason for panic attacks are stressful life events. Whether you've experienced a death in the family or you have lost your job, life can throw some curve balls in your direction. Though stressors will go away in time, they can cause you to feel a large amount of fear and anxiety, triggering your body's response of fight or flight. In order to manage these events and not take on the stress, it can help to have friends and family to call upon in order to talk about your feelings and your struggles.
Unexpressed Emotions
Those who are not able or willing to express their emotions also tend to be more likely to have anxiety attacks. Since they can cause their body to become very tense, they will begin to see this tension expressed as a panic attack. They might only have this reaction as an outlet for their emotions. But if they were to begin to see a therapist or to talk to friends, they would be able to change the occurrence of panic attacks.
Too Many Stimulants
Some people are also very sensitive to caffeine and sugar. When they have too much of either stimulant, they might be at a higher risk of having a panic attack. For these patients, it's a good idea to stop ingesting these foods to see how they affect the incidences of panic attacks. If the attacks begin to subside, then removing the foods from the diet completely can be a cure for the panic attacks.
Past Panic Attacks
For those who have already had one panic attack, it's more than likely you will have another. Though some people are lucky enough to not have these attacks happen again, some people are simply more vulnerable since the body has already learned the panic response.
The truth is that there are many panic attacks which occur for no other reason than they do. You may never determine the cause, but there are many panic disorder medications and treatments which can help you begin to live panic free.
